New forum for ethnic minority nurses, midwives and allied health professionals

Improving equity of opportunity for nurses, midwives and care staff of all ethnicities is a top priority for all of us in Northamptonshire, along with the Chief Nursing Officer for England.
Following the recommendation of the Midlands Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Midwifery Officer Ethnic Minority Delivery Group, Integrated Care Northamptonshire (ICN) is pleased to announce that we will be launching a dedicated Forum for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background. Healthcare Assistants are also welcome to join the Forum.
Linda Chibuzor (Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Director of Nursing) will be the forum’s Executive Sponsor and Andy Brogan (St Andrew's Healthcare Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Quality) will be the Executive Ally. Andy already represents ICN at the Midlands Region Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Midwifery Officer Ethnic Minority Delivery Group.
The ICN Ethnic Minority Forum for Nurses, Midwives and AHPs will be instrumental in informing decision-making at senior level towards improving race equality and inclusion. It will also develop and support delivery of ICN actions to address the historical inequity faced by ethnic minority nursing, midwives and allied health professionals in four key areas:
- Career progression and development - visible ethnic minority leadership offer
- Representative workforce at all levels
- Eliminating disadvantage in HR and disciplinary processes
- Anti-racist practice
On Wednesday 26 April 2023, from 1pm to 4.30 pm, ICN will be holding a face-to-face workshop for colleagues to explore what support is required to develop and deliver system actions to address the four priorities noted above. The workshop will be held at the Moulton Community Centre, Sandy Hill, The Reedings, Moulton, NN3 7AX.
