Corby Urgent Care Centre Procurement

Corby Urgent Care Centre provides treatment for minor illness and injuries.

Since April 2019, One Medical Group has been contracted to run the Corby Urgent Care Centre. The centre provides treatment for minor illness and injuries, that are too urgent to wait for a GP appointment but do not need treatment at an emergency department, and currently sees more than 70,000 patients each year.

The current contract for running the urgent care centre is due to expire at the end of March 2023, and therefore NHS Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) intends to run an open market procurement process to identify the best provider to run the centre for the duration of the next contact term.

The next contract term will be for five years and the existing service, while aligning to the national service specification for Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) will remain the same. To be clear, this is a potential change of provider only, services will remain the same and the way in which people access these services will also remain the same. This will provide continuity and stability for the service while safeguarding its long-term future.

The procurement exercise will launch in July with an expectation that we will be able to announce the provider in January 2023, ready for the contract to commence on the 1 April 2023. The centre will continue to operate as normal during this process.

We would like to thank One Medical Group for their hard work running the urgent care centre, especially with the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
