Northamptonshire Health and Care Careers Academy is delighted to share details of two fantastic apprenticeship opportunities to help support the development of the pharmacy technician workforce.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), in collaboration with 3Sixty Care Partnership and community pharmacies can offer two apprentice Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. These positions are available on two-year fixed contracts.
Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians will rotate through the various departments and care settings, gaining a wide range of skills, knowledge, and competencies, to successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship. These include accurately receiving, dispensing and final accuracy checking prescriptions. With the patient facing nature of the rotations, the post holder will become confident in counselling patients, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients when transferring between care settings and responding to medication queries. As the trainee develops in their apprenticeship, they will be able to provide technical leadership on medicines optimisation and quality improvement.
Pharmacists and technicians in general practice, dispensary, and ward settings, will develop, manage, and mentor the apprentices throughout the pre-registration period.
The post holder will work effectively across the three pharmacy settings, supporting the respective pharmacy teams to help utilise skill mix, improve patient outcomes, ensure better access to healthcare, and help manage workload. The role is pivotal to improve the quality of care and operational efficiencies across the various care organisations.
With a starting salary of £18,397 in the first year, the post holder's salary will rise to £19,711 in the second year.
